COUPLES AND FAMILIES

10 REASONS TO COME FOR COUPLES THERAPY:

1. You aren't talking.
2. You're talking, but it’s always negative.
3. One or both of you is afraid to talk.
4. One of you withholds affection as punishment.
5. One or both of you sees the other as an antagonist.
6. One or both of you keeps secrets.
7. One of you contemplates (or is having) an affair.
8. One of you keeps the other in the dark about spending or needs to control everything related to money.
9. One of you feels neglected sexually.
10. You argue over the same petty things over and over.
FAMILY THERAPY

A major change in the family can affect all family members. You or your spouse may be dealing with changes in work, schedule, or living situation. Someone in your family may have problems that affect everyone else. Your children may develop problems suddenly after a divorce, death, or other stressful event and family therapy may be recommended rather than individual therapy so that no one member of the family is identified as "the" problem.
POST DIVORCE CONSULTATIONS
After a divorce or separation most parents want to manage the transition so children benefit from the changes in the family. One or both parents are welcome to come for a consult to discuss ways to avoid fighting through the children. If parents cannot agree on a strategy that protects the children from post- divorce stress individual therapy might be suggested. Sometimes a blended family can come in for a family session.
